Description

To make the Amarone “Mattonara”, the human touch, interaction with nature and faithfulness to tradition are fundamental. The name “Mattonara” is a tribute to the sandstone quarry where the cellar is located. It stands out from the classic Amarone for an even more accurate selection of grapes, which come from the oldest vineyards. The wine rests for about 9 years in large barrels and tonneaux of Slavonian oak and is bottled in its tenth year of age, followed by at least one year in the bottle. The long aging process favors further reduction of residual sugars and the creation of a complex, rich, persistent and well-balanced texture. The color is intense ruby red with garnet reflections and very important glycerines. This Amarone releases on the nose notes of ripe cherry, marasca and slightly wilted plums, as well as balsamic and spicy aromas. In the mouth it is enveloping, with hints of cherry jam, plum and chestnut. Over time, depth and tertiary flavors develop, including pepper, licorice and cocoa.
