Bottles

The selection of bottles on our site are the result of careful research of the best wineries, labels and vintages, which have the ability to evolve and improve over time, increasing their value.

Aging in the bottle is the final step in the maturation of a wine and allows a great wine to best express its potential. However, it is of fundamental importance that the refinement takes place in the best environmental conditions in terms of light, temperature and humidity.

The exclusive and direct purchase from the producer allows us to guarantee the traceability of the bottle from the moment it leaves their cellar until it is shipped to the desired address.

Our goal, also as a benefit company, is to promote the best wines of the national territory and make them appreciated all over the world.

Wine is considered a solid alternative investment because it combines stable returns with low risk. Furthermore, investments in wine boast better performance in times of crisis than most other investment assets. It is a tangible and concrete asset, represents a low-risk investment, is a liquid asset and is resistant to inflation. Its value increases with the evolution of the product and the demand for fine wines is constantly growing. Investing in wine can be an interesting choice to diversify your portfolio and protect your capital.

In the event that the wine smells of cork, to proceed with the refund or replacement of the bottle, you will have to keep and send us the essential components (bottle with all its contents and the cork) to allow us to evaluate the actual fault of the wine, thank you with the help of a specialized analysis laboratory.
You will be required to report it by email to support@cantinium.com attaching photographic material and sending then the bottle re-corked with the original cap to the address we will indicate to you. We could thus carry out microbiological analyses, in our selected laboratories, to evaluate the presence of molds and other microorganisms, characterizing the smell of cork.

Storage

For the optimal definition of the temperature, humidity and brightness parameters, we make use of the latest scientific publications carried out in the wine field on the wine refinement process.

The bottles are deposited at the Cantinium warehouse in Italy, where temperature, humidity and brightness are controlled and monitored 24/7. The Cantinium deposit is covered by insurance.

The environmental parameters are monitored using the latest generation sensors and thanks to the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects, "things", that are embedded with sensors, software and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems on the Internet. Being always connected to the network, they allow you to monitor and record the environmental parameters in the cellar.

An NFC tag (Near Field Communication) is an electronic label that is applied to bottles and allows them to be uniquely identified thanks to a close reading using an enabled device (for example your smartphone).

The NFC (Near Field Communication) tag applied to the bottle uses a low-frequency short-range communication technology, similar to that used for contactless payment on our credit cards. It has no impact on wine or any other food product.

The maximum term of custody for a single selection is 5 years. However, you can renew and extend the storage period of your bottle at any time.

The bottle can be redeemed at any time; no penalty will be applied and no refunds will be provided.

The cellar is located in Italy/Lombardy in a place outside the city so as not to be subject to vibrations and make it ideal for refining wine. However, for security reasons, it is not possible to visit the cellar.

Blockchain and NFTs

The blockchain is a technology that allows you to create a secure and transparent digital register of transactions. Use encryption and decentralization to ensure traceability of information in a shared and immutable database. The advantages of this technology are many. The blockchain increases the trust, security, transparency and traceability of shared data. Furthermore, thanks to the blockchain it is possible to share provenance data directly with customers. This can be particularly useful in industries such as finance, logistics and supply chain where traceability of information is critical.

Polygon is a layer 2 technology of Ethereum and a system in which all blockchains are interconnected. This allows you to interact with decentralized systems without using proprietary platforms. In addition, Polygon has the advantage of very fast transactions and at lower costs.

A wallet is a digital wallet that stores NFTs and cryptocurrencies in one place. The Wallet may receive additional digital assets sent to the wallet holder in conjunction with the purchase of other digital assets.

NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are assets that have been tokenized via a blockchain. An NFT is a type of cryptographic token that represents a unique and non-interchangeable entity. NFTs can be used as unique certificates of ownership.

Once the purchase is complete, the NFT is sent directly to your digital wallet.

Certification

The guarantee certification issued by Cantinium and registered on the blockchain certifies both the conservation quality of the bottles, thanks to the environmental parameters recorded by the IoT devices, and the authenticity of the bottles themselves.

Cantinium guarantees the authenticity of the bottles by purchasing directly and exclusively from the producer and registering the purchase note on the blockchain. Each bottle is equipped with an NFC tag, registered on the blockchain in an immutable way, for unambiguous recognition. In this way it is possible to trace the history of each single bottle, from its purchase to any future resales.

The certification is valid from the moment the bottles are received in the Cantinium cellar and remains valid for a period of 90 days following the moment the bottles are redeemed

Shipping

Commissions

The royalty is a commission of 2% on the sale price which is paid to Cantinium as creator of the NFT

The costs of insurance and custody of the bottle inside the controlled cellar are included for the various environmental parameters essential for correct refinement.
The commission will be included directly during the purchase phase and will be between 6% and 4 %, depending on the selected custody period.

The insurance covers all eventualities, including calamitous damage. The insurance costs ensure that the value of the bottle is fully compensated in the event that any damage occurs during storage.
