Description

I Sodi di San Niccolò is an Italian red wine produced exclusively with autochthonous grape varieties: 85% Sangioveto and 15% Malvasia Nera, which come from the two best Cru of the property. Sangioveto is a clone of Sangiovese, selected in collaboration with the Universities of Milan and Florence. The name of the wine comes from the word used by Tuscan farmers to describe those lands that had to be worked by hand, being too hard or too steep to allow the use of oxen. I Sodi di S. Niccolò is the most important Cru of the winery and has received numerous awards, including the 6th absolute position in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 with the 1985 vintage and the best Italian red wine in the world in 2018 and 2021. The 2019 vintage stands out for its great olfactory intensity and a dense and elegant texture of sweet and silky tannins. The acidic shoulder of Sangioveto gives great freshness and makes the sip particularly pleasant and crunchy, with a long and persistent finish. I Sodi di S. Niccolò is ready immediately and is suitable for very long aging.
