Description

Produced from Sangiovese grapes, the Nobile Asinone is a red wine that encompasses tradition, territory and oenological innovation. It catches the eye for its style and character. A glass of Tuscany. The wine originates from the Asinone vineyard, which is located at an altitude between 380 and 400 m a.s.l., on the south-southwest slope of the road that goes from Montepulciano to Torrita di Siena. The name Asinone derives from the shape of the vineyard, resembling a donkey’s back. The vines are more than 40 years old and produce small Prugnolo Gentile berries. The wine is produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes in the best vintages, and with a small percentage of Colorino and Canaiolo in the others. After fermentation, the wine ages for 16-18 months in French oak tonneaux. The color is bright ruby red, with violet reflections. The aroma is wide and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, tobacco and licorice. The flavor is full and round, with soft and harmonious tannins, and a long aromatic persistence. This is the Nobile Asinone, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016, a wine of high quality and personality, that expresses the best of Montepulciano’s territory and Poliziano’s passion.
