Biondi-Santi

It is rare that the origins of a great wine can be traced back to a precise time and place in history, as is the case with Brunello di Montalcino. It was in the mid-19th century that Clemente Santi, as the first Vitner in Tuscany, decided to craft a wine based on Sangiovese Grosso alone. The first official “Brunello di Montalcino” was produced in 1888 by the hands of his grandson, Ferruccio Biondi Santi. A history of painstaking attention to detail and loyalty towards a simple, yet ambitious idea of wine: Sangiovese Grosso, grown in high altitude on the hilly slopes around the town of Montalcino and aged for long periods in wood, according to a tradition that has been handed down for generations.
